Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly

Meryl Streep has always been very anti-sequel, her polite duck out of Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again left us all just a bit gutted, but our Streep sized holes were filled with Cher shaped solution, so can we complain? Beside the point, we’re very excited to see her reprise the role of Miranda Priestly, based upon the iconic yet infamous Vogue editor, Anna Wintour. Wintour reclaimed her image in the recent cover of Vogue, posing with Meryl Streep dressed as Priestly. 

Who are the main characters in The Devil Wears Prada?

In case you haven’t had the chance to rewatch the cult-classic, we’re here to prompt your memory. Andrea “Andy” Sachs in the first film is new to the world of publishing, and stumbles into a shared assistant role at Runway magazine, where editor Miranda Priestly reigns the fashion industry. Alongside her is Emily Charlton, Priestly’s first assistant who painstakingly sees out the short-lived careers of girls before Andy. Nigel, devoted to his career in fashion and loyal to his queen Miranda, is the art director of Runway and is in much need of a promotion. We won’t say too much more, go re-watch it already! Or make a night of it and go to see The Devil Wears Prada Musical… just a suggestion.

Anne Hathaway returns as Andy Sachs, who steps into the role of Features Editor at Runway. An interesting move from our leading lady, stepping back into the Runway world. 

Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton

Emily Blunt’s character, Emily Charlton moves up in the fashion world, as an executive at Dior. We just hope she’s eating more than a block of cheese in 2026, but we just know she loves her meal prep. 

Stanley Tucci as Nigel

We wait in anticipation to see if Nigel Kipling, played by Stanley Tucci, finally gets the promotion he deserved, or if he still looms in Priestly’s shadows. 

New cast members and rumours

The much anticipated sequel comes with some fresh meat to the world of Runway, with some new faces you might recognise. She's trading in corsets for power suits, Bridgerton’s Simone Ashley joins the cast, with fans already excited from her appearance in the trailer. One part of Charlie’s Angel’s Lucy Liu is also confirmed to join the cast, with no named character just yet. 

Sitcom heroes are here to sprinkle a little humour with Pauline Chalamet (yes you recognised the last name) known for her laugh-out-loud performance in Sex Lives of College Girls. B. J. Novak, known for his role as Ryan in The Office, as well as the self-proclaimed Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Rachel Bloom. Clearly we’re in for a barrel of laughs, and to fall in love with this cult-classic all over again. 

The Devil Wears Prada amongst the comedy and hard-hitting life lessons for your 20s, is known for the high-end fashion. So naturally, we are ready for the icons Donatella Versace and Queen of the Monsters, Lady Gaga to serve nothing but looks.
