Wealthy widow Hanna Glawari might decide the fate of her land when she gives her hand in marriage once more. Surrounded by determined suitors and politicians with their own agendas, the one man whose attention Hana is focused on is the one man who disavows her because of the very fortune that makes her so desirable to the others.
Franz Lehar’s comic operetta features such memorable melodies as ‘Vilja Song’ and ‘Merry Widow Waltz’. This tale of romance, intrigue, comedy, mishap and misadventure will delight audiences.
Director Max Webster (The Lorax) makes his ENO debut alongside award-winning and highly sought after Estonian conductor Kristiina Poska. ENO favourite Sarah Tynan returns to the stage for herr second major appearance of the season playing the lovely Hanna. She is joined by Nathan Gunn as Danilo and ENO legend Andrew Shore plays Zeta.
The show will be sung in English with titles projected above the stage.
