Set amidst the mining strikes of 1912, D H Lawrence’s ‘ordinary’ tale of life, love and family was never performed or published in his lifetime. When trouble comes to the mines and to the Gascoyne family home, lines have to be drawn and decisions have to be made. A newlywed couple, a mother, a daughter-in-law and a secret all mix together during the mining strikes of 1912. This sensitive and honest glimpse into family life centres on sex, class and politics in the most natural ways possible.
