The Bodyguard over at the Dominion theatre starring Beverly Knight and Ben Richards opens with a rather literal bang. The story of a pop sensation under threat from an obsessive fan has made its way back to the West End for a second run and is playing to full houses.

An adaptation of Dinelaris’ 1992 film, The Bodyguard initially showed in 2012. Catch it again now for its second run, this time at The Dominion Theatre, where it shows until January 2017. 

Packed with songs that will make you want to dance, and a tumultuous and heartbreaking storyline with times of terrifying tension, this musical is definitely one for drama lovers. Even having watched the film, the show still offers some surprises. 

Earlier this week, my sister and I headed down to the Dominion Theatre to see The Bodyguard - something I was expecting to be a semi-enjoyable night out, but turned out to be one of the most enjoyable and gripping shows I have ever seen! 

If there’s one name in the West End that’s going to guarantee the interest of theatre fans, it’s Beverley Knight.  She is without a doubt one of the greatest talents we have in London at the moment and she cements her stellar reputation by returning to her debut West End role, Rachel Marron in The Bodyguard. Knight knocks it out of the park in the role made famous by the late Whitney Houston and entertains the audience with hits such as 'Run To You', 'Dance With Somebody' and of course the classic 'I Will Always Love You'. They really pull all the stops out for this production, using all the special effects at their disposal to create a show that ticks every single box.

As previously announced, Beverley Knight returns to the international hit musical The Bodyguard for a strictly limited six month run West End run to play Oscar-nominated superstar Rachel Marron with Ben Richards as Frank Farmer, Marron’s bodyguard. Performances begin at the Dominion Theatre on 15 July 2016 for this strictly limited season to 7 January 2017. 

I am unashamedly excited about The Bodyguard returning with Beverley Knight on 15 July 2016 to the Dominion Theatre. I am a huge Beverley Knight fan and loved her performance when I saw it at the Aldephi Theatre in 2013 and think she paved the way for it to have the long life it has on tour, both in the UK and the US after she took over from Heather Headley in October 2013, where it already had strong and loyal following, playing Rachel Marron.

I recently went to see King Lear at Theatre Royal Brighton. I live in South London and couldn’t resist a sunny afternoon trip to the south coast. I’d forgotten how much I love a Saturday matinee and if you thought they were just for the elderly then you are very much mistaken. They are the most welcoming option, if you think theatre is cold and inaccessible you have not gone to a Saturday matinee.

The international hit musical The Bodyguard will return to the West End for a limited six month run with Beverley Knight playing the title role of Oscar-nominated superstar Rachel Marron.  Public booking will open on 12 February 2016 for performances beginning at the Dominion Theatre on 15 July 2016 playing in this strictly limited season to 7 January 2017.  

Alexandra Burke will join the cast of the hit West End musical The Bodyguard on 2 June, this year. She will play the leading role of Oscar-nominated superstar Rachel Marron. Burke will play opposite Tristan Gemmill who continues in the role of Rachel’s bodyguard, Frank Farmer.  Alexandra Burke will join the production at the Adelphi Theatre where the show is playing to 30 August 2014.  Beverley Knight will continue in the role of Rachel Marron until 31 May 2014.

Producers of The Bodyguard have confirmed that Beverley Knight has extended her run in the starring role of Rachel Marron until 31st May 2014. Knight joined the show in September this year and has received high praise from critics and audiences for her performance. Many cannot believe the role marks her acting debut.
